The Inspiration

The inspiration for With love, Sally comes from my personal experience as a single parent, and from a dear friend who also experienced a portion of his young life, living in a single parent home. As our friendship grew we shared our stories. My perspective as the parent and his as a child. Those conversations sparked something in me.

I began to think deeply about how I could help as many single-parent families as possible. I wanted to take my love for art and use it in a meaningful way, by creating a business where profits would go to organizations that provide both practical and emotional support to families just like ours.

There are over 15 million children living in households run by a single mother with no father figure, and another 3 million where the father is the primary parent. Many of these families live well below the poverty level. The U.S. has one of the highest rates of children living with single parents among advanced nations. This is not talked about nearly enough.

By Creating With love, Sally, I hope to champion this issue and bring it to the forefront of people’s consciousness. These families need more than financial help, they need love, understanding, and support from their communities. It truly takes a village to raise a child. and we are all of us, the village.

  • Emotional Support

    Raising children in a home without a partner is one of the most difficult things that a parent can experience. Emotional support is something that you can give that will have a lasting impact on them. Being available to visit and discuss their current situation can be so meaningful. Sometimes discussing problems, a solution can be found, and the knowledge that they are not alone is what they need most.

    Babysitting

    Taking kids to appointments and school practices

    Tutoring and homework

    Transportation and errands

    Including them socially, listening without judgement

    Organizing community drives that help with their needs

  • More Ways To Help

    Food insecurity is a major issue for many single-parent families. Providing meals or groceries is so important.

    If you have handyman skills you could donate your time to help with general household repairs.

    Skill based assistance: Helping to write resumes, tech and legal assistance, and help with budgeting
